MIGHTY
YET SMALL

A creative services company

Chantown Creative works from a uniquely rounded perspective on all kinds of projects. The company is based in Hong Kong and was founded by Vickie Chan (she’s half Chinese and half British… and she’s short. You can meet her in a second).

For a shopping list of things we can cover, here goes: Creative direction, developing brand strategies and toolkits. Maybe you need some visual content to go with those? Ok! We can produce videos and photo shoots. Need another touch point? Let’s build out a website or an app. Oh and IRL, we can look at trends, VM and customer experiences.

Meet Miss Chan. She does this and she does that. She likes Marmite. And Top Gun.
Meet Miss Chan. She does this and she does that. She likes Marmite. And Top Gun.

Before founding Chantown Creative, Vickie worked in Branding, Design Project Management and Marketing Communications. But that’s work. We said you would meet her, so here goes!

Vickie grew up and was educated in the UK, spending many summers in Hong Kong visiting her tiny Grandmother and many cousins. A few years after completing a degree in Fine Art, Vickie fulfilled a life-long yearning to live in Hong Kong and revel in a wealth of cross-cultural inspiration. Mmm, delicious.

Thanks to a lifetime of traveling back and forth between the UK and Hong Kong, Vickie has a uniquely-rounded understanding on the different cultural and social spaces. Oh – English is her mother tongue but she has a pretty fine grip on Cantonese.

As a writer and editor, Vickie has contributed to publications including the South China Morning Post, Zolima Magazine, and HKTDC Research. She is the editor and designer for What Will You Create™ and co-author of Culture Smart! Hong Kong. She also designed The Other Hundred: Entrepreneurs.

In 2017, Vickie established studio Chanpei for illustration and surface pattern design, working on a commission or license basis.

Otherwise, Vickie loves an adventure and hates perfect symmetry. Being out on the wide-open sea – or on almost any boat – gives her the sense of endless possibility. She is good at helping people find their path or connect the dots. She has an unhealthy appetite for Marmite and is a huge Top Gun fan.
